WHAT IS COACHING?

The most succinct definition that I have heard is:

"A coach is someone who helps you do things that you don't want to do so you can become who you want to be."

The definition from the International Coaching Federation:

"Professional coaching is an ongoing partnership that helps clients produce fulfilling results in their personal and professional lives. Through the process of coaching, clients deepen their learning, improve their performance, and enhance their quality of life.

"Coaching accelerates the client's progress by providing greater focus and awareness of choice. Coaching concentrates on where clients are today and what they are willing to do to get where they want to be tomorrow."

Beyond that, it’s often said that coaching works a lot like having a personal trainer, except instead of working solely on making changes in your body, the focus is on making changes in your life.

Tiger Woods frequently mentions the importance of his coach, in keeping his game at its best. Even those who are talented and may have great insights about others, often require the assistance of another person, when tackling their own ‘game’. Coaching helps the client work toward more success in business, better personal relationships, making a transition, a more balanced life, a healthier body, moving in a new direction, taking on a pet project, or following a dream.

The result of hiring a coach
People take themselves more seriously, tolerate fewer distractions or draining activities or relationships, begin to establish successes that build on one another and set better goals. The client develops new skills and these skills lead to more successes.

Coaching vs Therapy
Coaching differs from therapy. Simply put, while therapy is about delving into psychological issues and working to heal, coaching begins with a person’s areas of strength and is about devising strategies and altering patterns to realize specific results.

How I work
My approach is simple: we begin by exploring the particulars of your own unique circumstances; your values, your barriers, and your goals, as we also seek to expose unseen clues and underlying opportunities that may exist for you, below the surface.

As I coach I collaborate with you to uncover opportunities, set goals, formulate action steps, allowing you to achieve what you want in your life.
