Who I am
Hi, my name is Jan V. Solomita. I am the single father of two daughters, ages twelve and fourteen. I grew up in a large closely-knit family. Smart, loving parenting and close family life are at the core of my values.

I come to coaching from a rich background that includes creative expression and performance as well as teaching and counseling children and adults.

I created drama and improvisation classes within the treatment facilities and agencies in which I worked and was able to blend my duties doing human service work with my love for performing.

My interest in the performing arts began in high school and led me to study acting for many years. I performed as an actor and comedian in Boston, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. I performed in festivals, street shows, schools and prisons and acted professionally for stage, film, television and commercials.

After getting married and beginning a family, I transitioned into the business world signing on with a cutting edge software firm for which I presented innovative programs to corporations, vendors and user groups from coast to coast.

As much as I enjoyed my foray in the world of Information Technology, I had a yearning to begin working in a supportive capacity once again, both with small companies and with individuals.

I arrived at the profession of coaching four years ago, in what seems like the next natural step in the progression of my life. My first clients were people on the verge of taking on big projects such as starting a business, and parents going through transitions who needed assistance in gaining clarity and direction while making changes. In the process I blended serious analysis and humor, both of which I see as absolutely necessary when coping with challenging situations.

Working as a coach is stimulating and exciting. It is truly a working partnership, a collaboration, and its success depends greatly on the relationship between coach and client. In doing this work, I have been able to assist people taking courageous steps in their lives to bring about productive changes.

How I operate
We decide upon one area to address (at a time), in your professional or personal life. Together we’ll devise a strategy, and identify specific action steps, that will facilitate your progress in an efficient manner, and with measurable results. I may play the role of empathetic listener, champion of your cause, provider of feedback, reflector of your words, devil’s advocate, and navigator.
